Is it just me or do boomers have a distorted sense of self? When I was young my dad would constantly bragged about how he use to walk X number of kilometers and was an overachiever in school. Now he's homeless living at his sister's and on the brink of losing land passed down by his grandfather(thanks to a company that pressured his younger brother to sign a contract).
Back in the 90's he worked for a company that paid his rent and gave him two vehicles. Our house was always filled with relatives due to its size and swimming pool. Despite being an accountant he never invested in anything substantial but spent most of his evenings drinking. Well his arrogance and need to talk about politics got him fired.
Fast forward to present day and my sister suffered a life threatening disease that made her bed ridden. My mother(who divorced him) asked my dad for some money and he couldn't help at all so I paid for my sisters medication and breathing apparatus. My dad sent me a long message saying how proud he was but two days later sends messages about his court case and financial issues. I straight up told him I don't have enough since I sent him money just last month. He's been sending me newspaper articles with his name in the newspapers about his court case like it's some achievement. Instead of finding out how my sisters doing he's stroking his own ego because his name appeared in a local newspaper
