I'd completely forgotten about this boomer encounter that I chronicled on my Facebook 4 years ago, it kindly reminded me this morning. Please to enjoy!

So I was getting a routine oil change for the car during lunch break today and got to witness some rather amusing people-watching activity. I'm sitting in the waiting room at the dealership with a few other people, including this one older dude who appeared to be 60ish and had that classic "get off my lawn" grumpy old man demeanor. The tv was on, and every now and then a political ad for Bloomberg would come on illiciting a groan from most in the room but especially the grumpy old man (for the record, I'd really like it if Bloomberg would go away).

And then The View came on, and since this was the heart of political territory that leans very strongly in a particular direction I knew it was gonna get entertaining. As expected, they immediately fly into the big topic of the impeachment, most in the room are watching out of lack of anything better to do including grumpy old man who has his arms crossed and is sporting that upsidedown-smile grouch frown.

First up on the show was one of the defense lawyers going off on a rant about how Joe Biden did all this horrible corrupt stuff, grumpy old man is vigorously nodding in agreement. The clip ends and Whoopi makes a comment about how Joe Biden isnt the one on trial, to which grumpy old man snorts in disagreement. Yes, he actually snorted, like a bull getting ready to mow down a matador.

A little more back and forth from the ladies and they get to a clip of Ken Starr (didnt know he was involved in this circus) testifying/preaching that we seem to have shamefully entered the age of impeachment where it happens far too often. Then they showed a clip of Ken Starr in 1999 testifying/preaching about how Bill Clinton had to be impeached and removed from office for getting a blowie. Essentially, it was two vids of him saying exact opposite things when a democrat was under the gun versus when a republican was under the gun. I hear a stifled chuckle or two from the room when Whoopi points this out, and then a grunt of rage from grumpy old man. He mutters something to the tune of "grumble grumble grumble keep her goddamn mouth shut," couldnt understand the first couple words of his tirade but I can imagine they weren't very complimentary of Whoopi.

It was a this point that grumpy old man's car was finished and the service dude came to explain the invoice to him. Apparently his brake pads and rotors were completely shot, metal on metal contact, and were well past the point of having to be thrown away and replaced on all 4 wheels. Grumpy old man starts grouching off to the service dude about how his brakes work just fine and he can get the work done cheaper over at this place and how his friend is a mechanic and blah blah blah. Service dude is essentially trying to tell the guy that his car isnt going to be able to stop itself before too much longer, one can tell the difference between an obvious upsell and a legitimate safety advisory. Nope, grumpy old man wasnt having it and actually started to "mansplain" the workings of car brakes to the service dude (an actual auto mechanic). Eventually, he very grudgingly told service dude to turn the rotors which is impossible to do when they're worn down beyond their throw away point. I didnt get to see the final outcome because my car was done at this point, but the look on the service dude's face was priceless.

Just hope I dont end up near that guy on the road since his car probably wont be able to stop.
