Paypal UI changed last week and they now hide the currency conversion rate. Anybody know how to find it, or how do you work around it?
Post Body

I'm not a bookkeeper but a small business owner who does my own bookkeeping. I'm meticulous about it (my biz is small enough that I can do this and still manage all the rest), do manual data entry once a week between the Paypal activity report and QBO. My preference is to record each sale as a sales receipt in QBO with line items for: 1) 1 line item for the items sold subtotal, 2) 1 line item for total discounts if any, 3) 1 line item for shipping, and 4) 1 line item for the transaction fees. I'm a USA shop so I record everything in USD.

Until recently this was fine, if slightly annoying because clicking on the transaction itself in the Paypal activity list would show the exact conversion rate that Paypal applied to that transaction. I would record the foreign currency subtotals mentioned above in a small Excel conversion tool, copy and past their exchange rate into it also and it would give me the exact USD amounts for each subtotal. I had to do this because they did not show those line item details in USD, only the foreign currency.

Last week Paypal changed their UI for the activity line items and they no longer show the rates of exchange in any transaction. I know they have a currency calculator tool but it does not have a date parameter so it only shows the rate of exchange at the day/time you use it, which is NOT the exact rate applied to a transaction yesterday or last week. So, useless.

Is anybody here dealing with this and found a way to accurately convert line item details so that you have those details in USD but still have to-the-penny aggregated deposits? Are you fighting with Paypal over this UI change or is it a lost cause to try that?
