I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas. I hope the year has been good to you and the upcoming year(s) will be even better.

My normal fields of interest are Mathematics, Computer Science, Programming, Psychology and History (amongst other fields). In the arena of fiction, I enjoy thrillers, historical fiction, heartfelt books and fantasy.

​

I am a lifelong learner and am perenially drawn to the idea of learning more, adding more knowledge my personal tapestry, seeing the world in more detailed nuance and am excited by knowing more about the world. I love having a richer mental model of the world and having more to drawn from and experiencing profound insights.

​

I would like to turn my attention to books about finance, business and economics this year. The odd article by Harvard Business Review does pop up on my LinkedIn feed (I usually find them to be quite generic and meaningless), but I thought of going deeper into the topic of economy and finance and learning more about it.

​

I would like to start reading books from book award short (and long) lists like FT and Schroders Business Book of the Year 2023.

The kind of books I would like to read -

• Books about the biography or memoir about a particular person who had a career in finance or business. I prefer lesser known people. For example, a book like 'The Man Who Solved the Market' is preferable over a book on Elon Musk.
• Books involving some kind of history
• Books explaining economics (of any market) to a lay audience.
• Books involving Mathematics or Computer Science !

The kind of books I would not like to read -

• Books that are clearly politically biased. I don't want a book that is clearly politically biased although a book that touches upon geopolitics is welcome since it is impossible to completely separate politics from economy.
• Books written to give talking points to the next political debate.
• Generic self help book
• Academic books about economics or finance

I do not want to limit it to books. I would even love to share or exchange articles, videos and podcasts involving new insights about business. I would love to share insights or summaries of our learnings.

This post is about business and economics, but I am not limiting to that. I always love meeting new and interesting people, learning from their experiences and becoming friends. Feel free to message if you'd like to just be friends as well !
