I have had two trees for a while and I'm wondering what I can do with them. I've done plenty of reading, but have no experience and would like to hear exact suggestions on what you guys would do with them.
First up: Sebastian the Ficus. I have had this tree through drought and snow for six years, but have mostly just been letting him do his thing. The FL climate seems perfect and I really dig the exposed roots finally coming in, but the scar from topping (before purchased) is also still visible in that photo. I've been positioning branches with wire, but they are starting to get out of hand, I might want to trim some but I have no idea which ones. I'm pretty squeamish when it comes to pruning.
Plant #2: Juniperus viginiana - Maybe not old enough to do anything major. Moving to a larger pot immediately. What measures would you take to promote lower branch growth and stem-thickening?
I'll be happy to provide more photos if you'd like more angles or something. Show me how to walk the path of the bonsai master, sensei.
