Rookie Onslaught?

Alright laugh it up at the new guy, but I've got three stars in every rookie mode except this one, which is a single star. Despite this I've got the achievements, and I've completed it a number of times (even with a 50% perfect wave rate) so what gives with the stars on this one? Any ideas?
