Hi guys, I'm looking to purchase a used Chevy Bolt. The one I've got my eye on is a 2017 Premier with 62,500 miles but the battery was replaced in Dec. 2022 (15 months ago) and was only driven about 7,000 miles or less on the new battery. For the most part it looks to be in good shape but not perfect.
One thing that I thought might be cause for concern was seeing rust on the front driver side brake disc and caliper and on the rear passenger side caliper. I've included the dealer's pics down below - the first two pics are the ones with rust but I thought I'd post all four wheels while I'm at it in case someone else sees something that I missed. The pictures can be enlarged by opening a particular one in a new tab on desktop/PC or clicking an individual pic on mobile so you can get a better look at them.
Another thing that I thought looked weird is that the plastic molding around the front driver side wheel well appears to have come apart toward the bottom on the far left side (see first pic below).
Are these issues nothing to worry about or is there casue for concern? Thanks for any help.
The plastic trim piece was not installed back on the vehicle correctly. The tab sticking out needs to be put behind the lower plastic panel edge.
As far as the rusty calipers and rotors on the front of the vehicle, the rotors are not much of a concern. As a previous mechanic of 10 years, the caliper rust is somewhat concerning because of the prevalence of rust. Will it affect the braking of the vehicle? Likely not. However, if your looking at buying this vehicle I would see if they could do something about it.
