So I have a little bit of Autism and like allot of people with this condition I enjoy repitition, sometimes a little to much. When my brain latches onto an idea to the point that even I get tired of going over it again, it sometimes helps to write it down. I adore tabletop RPGs ad got this idea to try and turn some of the characters from My Hero Acedemia into RPG characters using the game Heros Unlimited by Palladium Books, exclusivly using the rules presented there, no homebrew powers, no extra powers, just the straight rules as I understand them and the Characters Quirks as I understand them, and I thought I'd spend some time typing them out to share them to see if anyone is interested. I watch the english dub of the anime and I don't read the manga so I'm only using what I know about and often anime characters don't convert straight across to RPGs very well so there will be differences but here goes.
P.S. sorry about any formatting issues I'm on a mobile and copy/pasting from a text document rather than retyping it all out.
Deku
An Experiment: someone who was a part of some incident, accidentally or intetionally recieving powers from it.
Has 1 Major power and 3 Minor powers
Power Channeling: Allows the character to generate kinetic energy and channel it through their body and into their physical blows, allowing them to damage even steel or concrete with their bare hands. The damage scales upwards as he levels but his physical strength is not applied to the attacks using this method as the energy burst is doing the damge not him.
Extraordinary Speed: as you might imagine this power allows the character to run at extraordinary speeds, specifically 220 mph as well as giveing him many bonus' to dodge and an extra atteck per round.
Enhanced Leaping: Another self explanitory power, this ability allows the character to jump incredible distances, the exact distnce is determined by the exact strength score of the character, but he could easily reach 100ft high and double that length on a long jump.
Super Power Punch: This power works within the specific rules of the Palladium system. A given character is alloted a certain number of attacks/actions per melee round, which they go through one at a time until all beings involved in the combat run out of actions, then the round resets. This power allows the character to combine the potential damage of all his available attacks into a single blow, dealing truly massive damage, but essentialy taking himself out of the combat for the remainder of the round as he burns through all his available attacks in a single action.
Why I did what I did.
I chose the Expiriment power catagory because I felt that it best reflected the idea of someone who grew up without super powers but greatly admired those that had them and used them for good, before gaining them later in life. Additionally this power catagory allows for another ability, making it so that the character doesn't actually have any powers until they undergo some form of trasformation which they can perform at will. This unlocks their powers and adds a bit to their physical abilities; I believe this was intended to be a way to make your character like the Hulk but I find that because it doesn't say the degree that you need to transform it makes an excellent way to factor in full cowling. I chose the powers I did primarily because of the way I preceive One For All to work. I believe most peoples first instinct would be to simply give Deku and All-might super strength, and while I don't necessarily think thats wrong, it seems to me that One For All is less a simple super strength quirk and more like an amplification of the results of the users physical actions. When they run they run faster, when they jump they jump higher, when they punch they punch waaay harder; it seems almost like the combined energy of the previous users pools together to boost whatever action is being taken. I say this based on the fact that one, I personally don't really remember either Deku or All-Might lifting anything heavy; as I said more like the results of a physical action are multplied but not an actual increase in strength, and two because this power isn't a constant thing like an increase to a base ability ought to be. They're actually required to expend thought and mental effort to activate it. Therefore I chose Power Channeling as an ability that doesen't give you super strength but lets you hit like you do, plus doing the whole "energy boosting your physical actions" thing. While his top running speed hasn't really been measured he seems very fast, able to keep up with Ida in the rescue race, hence Extraordinary Speed. He's able to jump in admittedly standard anime fashion, but as it does seem to be a part of his power set in particular so; Enhanced Leaping. Finally Super Power Punch reflects his ability to lash out with a 100% smash if he needs to.
Whats different?
Firstly I get the feeling that someone out there is gonna tell me I'm wrong and that its totally super strength, so if you think that then well, that's different. Honestly though I feel I did a pretty good job summing up Deku's abilities, one big difference is the fact that his 100% smash is probably never going to be as ridiculously powerful as it is in the anime, he's not gonna take out a skyscraper or anything but the power level in anime often doesn't sale well into RPGs so whatever. Also it won't do any actual damage to him when he uses it, he is essentialy stunned for a little while after, do to the amount of energy used by it, but it doesn't harm him, making it a more usful and less restricted ability. Also no shockwaves, despite the level of physical power the Super Power Punch has it doesn't make any shockwaves to shoot at people, it needs to physically connect with its intended target.
Weakness
Honestly my insistance that he doesn't have super strength does mean that the powers that rely on his strength such as Leaping and Power punch are negativly impacted. He won't be able to jump as high or hit as hard with Power Punch as he could've if I had given it to him. Also do to the fact the Deku showcases a fair bit of agility in the show that means his Physical Prowess (A.K.A his agility) should be his highest base stat. However this is made up for in the fact that Palladium has Physical Skills that boost a characters stats, most commoly strength. Also power channeling doesn't rely on strength so the vast majority of his attacks don't really need it, and the experiment transformation thing does boost his strength a little as well. Anoter weakness is the fact that this build is a definate close range character, so enemies capable of keeping their distance and attacking from far away as well as those who can fly would leave him at a significant disadvantage, but his speed and jumping ability should help make up for that. I hope someone finds this as entertaining as me thoug I can understand how someone not familiar with the heros unlimited game would be a little put off and confused but all this. I left allot of the knitty gritty detail of character creation as well as the passive stuff like stats and skills out of it but out of context I get that this could be weird to even read so if you've made it this far I thanks you. If theres any interest or if just because I feel like it I might do other chracters but for now I fugured the main one would be the best to do.
Thanks
