The unfortunate reality of sites like this is the ongoing increasing amount of SPAM/SCAM Posts & Comments.  Overall with some of the screening methods and measures we have put in place, we have cut most of it down to about 10%.  That 10% would be SPAM/SCAM Posts & Comments that actually get posted. Also with the fact, since most members participate on other Subs as well, we thought we would post some ideas to avoid SPAM/SCAM Posts & Comments.

So rather than immediately replying to the Post via PM, Chat or Comment, stop and consider the following:

  • Profile Name =  if the Profile Name seems to "gibberish" it probably is a Bot-generated Profile.  Here are examples from actual SPAM profile names: shdndjdjfnfnffn, bsbdhdjfjfnfnfb, sexy3568det, clarapinnnergal . This should be a Red Flag to be aware of.

  • Cake Day = if the Profile is brand new (same day) or recent, be aware. Bot-generated Profiles are created and recreated all day long.  So be aware of when it was created.

  • Profile Info/About = if the Post has some information listed in their "About" header, review it.  Many times it provides some insight.  They may have listed; they only correspond via Snapchat, they do NOT actually meet up in real person, they are only promoting the OF page.  These are all Red Flags to potential SPAM/SCAM.

  • Actual Posts = If the profile has previous Post history, see what other Subs they have posted in.  If all recent Posts are scattered throughout the US or Western US, consider it a Red Flag to potential SPAM/SCAM. Also another indicator would be to review the other Subs and see if those Topics are what you are looking for (i.e. Swingers, Kinks, Hard Drug Use, etc).  One other Sub History to be aware of is excessive previous posts in any Sub containing "Karma" is it's title.  These posts are for drilling for Karma-Farming.  They attempt to increase their Karma level in order to by-pass screening methods used for auto-Spam removal.

  • Post Title Formatting = Look at the actual format of the Title.  If it seems to be a bit formulated, it is a potential Red Flag.  Typically the Spam Post Title will follow a sequence of "Gender -> Age -> short description of info -> Emojis".  These titles are typically script generated and the Emojis are used to draw attention.  Also for our Sub inclusively, if you see a Title with the "NTBU" flair, it is an immediate Red Flag.  NBTU = Not To Be Used and the scripted Posts do not look for the definition and automatically assign it.

  • Link Farming = If any profile includes a link to another platform, QRC or requests you to visit their other site, this is a form of Link Farming.  The intent is to only drive their membership numbers up for that particular site.  The biggest offenders are for Snapchat and OnlyFans.  Another style of this are profiles that include links to Porn sites/videos.  Again with each link that is opened, their 'hit" counts increase and they are driving up hit counts for that site.

Overall we are not promoting the idea that all Posts are SPAM/SCAM.  We have actually come down in occurrences overall with the "Crowd Control" features in place. The feature has a learning curve and is actually getting better overall.   However we just wanted to inform you and give you some insight on what to look out for when looking at Posts in any of your active Reddit Subs.

If you have any screening items or "tricks", please feel free to include them in a comment below.
