Hey Boise!
I’m hoping for some advice from those in the know on behalf of my very amazing best friend! She’s the head of household and supports 2 children, one of them a fresh 18. She was recently diagnosed with cancer and is unable to earn income due to chemo and a borg amount of tubes coming out her. I helped her complete an application for Catholic Charities, she was told that she needs to have some income coming in and they denied her app. TAFI is counting her 18yo’s income and denied her. SNAP was able to approve her, yay! She still needs temp assistance paying her mortgage and utilities.
Does anyone know of any other subsidies that can provide short term assistance?
Survivors, do you have any hot tips?!
She should be able to get on disability regardless of the state denies her. Disability would be through the federal government so just apply for that. Not sure what you've done as far as the in and outs of applying. Just go to the health and welfare website and call their 1-800 number and listen to the prompts and shoes disability and get a hold of somebody and fill out the form. There is an option for number four to get another form of disability for Medicaid.

Unfortunately no. Make sure the utilities know hardship and it's fall so they can't shut off
