International student is looking for help/information/contact
Post Body

Hi y'all!

My name is Daan, I'm 20 years old and I live in The Netherlands.
I'm in year three of college and I'll study abroad from medio December until medio July (dates are not for sure) at Universidad del Rosario.
I'm the first student from my university (and maybe even the first Dutch student) who'll study in Bogotá, so everything is still unsecure and I and my uni have really no idea what to do and to expect and I have so many questions:)
I was hoping for someone who can help me with my questions. Here are they:

- I have to find a place to live (preferably with furniture) for the whole time that I'll be in Bogotá. What are good places to look for? Which parts of the city are good for students to live? Are there some websites where I can find some options? Or maybe you know some apartments/student houses where I can stay? I'm totally cool with everything and I really like roommates/housemates.
- Are there quick courses to learn basic Spanish in town? I really want to learn Spanish, but I'm really bad at learning languages.
- I really would like to do community service. I like music (I play the guitar) and art and many other things. Do you know some nice organisations who can use the help? Or do you know if there are sites where I can find such organisations?
- Do Colombians cycle (a lot)? I live in The Netherlands and everyone here has at least one bike and I can't imagine a life without a bike, so I really would like to buy/rent a temporary bike in Bogotá, but is that weird? Are there even places where you can buy bicycles? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I know there are so many countries where nobody rides a bike, but there are also countries where everybody rides a bike, so I was just wondering in which category Colombia falls into:)
- Is there anyone who like to stay in contact for the next months? I would like to chat with someone who would like to tell me something about the city and the country, but I don't know any Colombian people.

- What are the do's and dont's in Colombia and do you have any tips about what to bring and other important things to do and know?

Well, that are my questions for now, I'm sure there'll be way more in the future, so I'll get back to you soon;)

Thanks for reading this!
Greetings from The Netherlands,
Daan
