Back on a W2, & finally getting a 401k match!

Post Body

I never really had jobs with investment benefits until a year before covid .. I started doing everything right- maxing Roth, maxing HSA contribution, maxing ESPP contribution -- we didn't get a 401k match at the time. Anyway, covid.. furlough, layoffs, etc. & now two years later I'm back with the same company but at another location and we still get all the same benefits plus the 401k match, so I immediately set my 5% contribution so I can get the full 4% match. Will be doing the same for the HSA & ESPP once the next purchase period begins. Will also start working towards maxing a Roth again, the one I had before was with Fidelity so not sure if I'll just stick with them or not.

The 401k is with T Rowe, the only funds with an ER lower then .3% is VITPX(.02) & VTSNX(.08), I'm only 34 so not sure if I want to put anything into the bond option yet. I know the 60/40 split is most similar to the total world weight, but to be honest I don't know how long I'll be with this company for, it could be 1 year, or 5, or 10 .. so I'm trying to pick a good ratio to relate with that since I could always roll it over if I do leave. I was thinking something along the lines of 75/25, or just 100% VITPX for the next year. They also offer the Schwab PCRA where I guess I have even more control over it?

I was also considering the idea that between the 401k, Roth, and HSA .. I am going to have similar investment choices, so would doing some overall portfolio ratio between the 3 work better? Or would some type of total US/total INT ratio be the way to go across the board? I guess that would be hard to tell without knowing what my options are for the HSA yet, not sure if it will be with UMB again or not.

Anyway, just a few thoughts that I've been pondering, I appreciate the input!
