When Did You Feel That Being a Boglehead Finally Paid Off?
Post Body

Unless you begin investing at the beginning of a long-term bull market, the first 10-15 years of investing is bound to be relatively slow-going. When did you feel like your financial sacrifices and discipline finally paid off? How long did it take you? Where were you in life at the time? How did it make you feel?

Iโ€™ve been aggressively investing in 80% total market US and 20% ex-US for about 5 years now. This has allowed me to experience some fairly solid gains overall, but my portfolio still consists of 80% (or more) contributions. With that said, I know what the future holds for me if I stay the course and continue to follow the Boglehead strategy. I canโ€™t wait until the day that I finally feel like it paid off!

Edit: "paid off" can mean anything to you. For me personally, it means substantial monetary gains from my investments (relative to my yearly work salary).
