I truly believe that the United States will still have a great market in the long future ahead of us but I'm not willing to risk everything I have on just one country. I just want enough international exposure to benefit from rebalancing during different swings in the market, while being able to sleep at night knowing that worst case scenario I can still retire even if the US somehow becomes a third world country or loses it's edge etc. should 20% do the trick ot should i increase my exposure to 25%. I have a 42 year time horizon for some context.
20% too much
