Hi all, still trying to figure out what I want. Originally I thought I was looking at something closer to a BALCS type setup, but now not sure how comfortable they will be all day based on other reviewers.
Requirements:
Soft armor (ability to also slide hard armor inside a plus)
Comfortable for all day use, standing and sitting
Breathable
Reasonably lightweight
US made and certified
Good all around protection (side also)
I donโt think I am sold on laser cut based on what I am reading, and would like it configurable with molle.
I like the zip up feature of the Safariland Oregon City 2.0, but they look like they might not be reathe well and Iโm not sure I like how the front soft plate attaches inside (not fixed on one side). Also, the Safariland armor insert prices are eye watering. Odd soft plate sizing is not a plus.
The Velocity Systems Mayflower LPAAC is high on my list, but availability and odd soft plate sizing is a bit of a turn off.
Are there any standard plate carriers that would come close to the coverage of something like the two mentioned above? I would love to stay with more standard 10x12 or 11x14 soft plates, add side plates, and call it a day if the coverage could come close to a LPAAC.
