This may have been addressed here, so sorry for the repeat. In the intro to Courtney’s party in “The Unbreakable Like-Likeness of Gene” the subtitles have the lyric from Rebecca Black’s “Friday”.But the song that is playing is not “Friday”. Did the creators of the episode want to use that song and didn’t get the rights? Was this lyric misplaced? What are your thoughts? 🤷🏽♀️
We might have a Beavis & Butthead like situation here in regards to broadcast rights.
Remember when the boys would sit around ripping on the music videos being played on screen? It was honestly some of their best material but most of the music videos were only cleared for broadcast. So years later something like half or most of the music videos are missing on DVD or streaming due to not clearing the musical rights.
So it could be they got the rights for live TV broadcast, but not the streaming/DVD/digital rights, and just left in the old subtitles.
Of course I'm just speculating so grain of salt and all that...
No, we don't! We would never do that! I'm pretty sure even suggesting hitting the high seas is against the rules here.
