Raping children makes someone a worse person than raping adults, killing children makes someone a worse person than killing adults. Humans are hardwired biologically to care for children, they are weak and naive and fully dependent on the people around them- hurting kids is just worse than hurting adults because they have no way to fight back and no tools to deal with the trauma. It is not okay to rape or kill adults either obviously, and both are disgusting and morally bankrupt, but if we have to rank the morally bankruptness of horrific actions then humans will generally rank hurting children as worse than hurting adults. People will be more viscerally affected by an elementary school shooting than a church shooting though both are immensely fucked up
