Forgive my ignorance - I'm pretty mechanically illiterate when it comes to cars. I recently got an inspection at a BMW dealership for my 2016 328xi and they recommended replacing the rear brakes and rotors but I was quoted close to $900 USD for both brakes and rotors. I took to a local mechanic who replaced brakes and rotors for half the price. He mentioned that he didn't think the sensor needed to be replaced so no new sensor. I'm now getting the warning about replacing the brake pads. I have tried clearing the alarm using the reset via the dash but am getting a "Reset Unsuccessful" message. Is there any way to reset using the old sensor or must I get a new sensor to clear the alarm?
