BMW 535XI 2008 wagon

My serpentine belt shredded but it still has tension around the pulleys , i know it might’ve gotten into my belt tensioner and that could cause serious damage , but what could’ve caused this to happen and what’s my best option going forward ? I’d appreciate all the help
