Soundcore Rave Neo Review
Post Body

I posted my initial thoughts here. I have used it 5-6 times in different settings, and here is my review. I am reviewing this as a party speaker.

  • Pros:
    • It is quite a well rounded speaker for only $100.
    • It can pair to multiple other Soundcore Rave Neo.
    • I easily got over 5 hours of playback at 80-100% volume.
    • At $100 price point, not sure you can get another party speaker that can match price/performance.
    • Comes with an App and you can save custom EQs
    • Lights are cool.
    • Its Loud and loudness goes further than other speakers in its category.
  • Cons:
    • Built in EQ settings are not good. With a custom EQ you really get the most from this speaker. If you subscribe to Oluv's patreon, he shared custom EQ settings that are great!
    • Pairing multiple speakers is challenging - not sure why I had so much trouble.
    • There is some compression at max volume that makes makes some EQ changes null. Not sure what is happening.
    • Only available at Walmart in the United States. Hopefully not an exclusive.
    • Bass is okay, but isn't the best.
  • How it compares to other speakers I have used.
    • W-King D8: I bought a pair around the same time and have returned them. While the D8 is impressive, it was not as loud and did not project as far as the Neo. At short distances, especially in my apartment, I could not tell the difference in loudness, but outdoors it was very clear the Neo was a better choice. I will say, the TWS on the D8 is so much easier to setup than on the Neo. the D8 isn't bad, but I couldn't justify keeping the neo pair and the d8 pair. Also, Neo is about 1.5 D8's standing up.
    • JBL Xtreme 2?: I do not own an xtreme but while on the beach with the Neo (pair), I was approached by someone with the JBL xtreme, I do not recall which one but it was green. He asked me about the Neo (pair) because we were playing over his music. I went over to where he was, about 15 feet, my music was still playing, he maxed out his xtreme, it was loud for his area, but I could still hear our music too. We lowered our volume a bit to be nice.
    • Soundcore Motion : This is not a fair comparison, but I read somewhere on here that the Rave Neo is like a Motion but bigger and louder. That is not my experience. I much prefer the sound tuning of the Soundcore Motion over the Rave Neo. The Neo is louder, but the sound quality is not as good the Motion - no contest.
    • JBL Partybox 100: Ok, this is not a fair comparison, the Partybox 100 is 3x the price of the Soundcore Rave Neo but I owned the Partybox 100 a year ago and I remember it quite well. Here is all I have to say - even if you had 3 Soundcore Rave Neo, it would not match the bass or loudness of the Partybox 100. What it would do is outlast the Partybox 100, because the battery life on the 100 is horrible in comparison. Also, 3x Soundcore Rave Neo weighs about the same as one Partybox 100.

Hope that helps!
