I know a lot of this subreddit is eager to see this match but I just wanted to temper expectations a bit before.

Bastard have played 3 consecutive match days meaning they’re next up for an extended break due to the tournament format. In the NEL, matchdays happen every 10 days but because there are 5 teams participating that means one must sit out every match day.

In the first matchday, Bastard beat Barcha 3-2 and PXG replicated the same result against Ubers. Manshine sat out.

In the second matchday, Bastard were victorious over Manshine and Barou secured his 100M bid with his hattrick against Barcha.

Now we come to matchday 3 and this is Ubers face Bastard. The other game going on right now is PXG against Manshine (we know this because Manshine have already had their break) and PXG will undoubtedly win.

Matchday 4 is where Bastard have to have their break because they are the only team that can, PXG will go against Barcha since PXG have already had their break and Ubers will go against Manshine because Manshine already had theirs. Any other combination is impossible as it means either a team has had 2 breaks or have played the opposition twice. A PXG vs Bastard cannot happen if Manshine vs Barcha doesn’t happen on the same matchday.

Now it is possible that Ubers might be next up for the break but that won’t happen as it doesn’t make much sense from a writing perspective (especially if they lose). It would mean the main character doesn’t get to play on the final matchday and have a say in determining whether or not his team wins the whole thing.

Kaneshiro won’t do it. But what he will do is provide us with a glimpse of what we have to see from PXG. He will either do this by having Isagi watch back the PXG v Manshine tape (and show us the highlights of the game from his perspective) or do what he did in the Third Selection and have Isagi watch PXG vs Barcha live.

Either way we can look forward to some Rin crumbs and maybe we’ll even see how Nagi’s shattered ego has affected Manshine’s performance in the NEL.

Regardless we can look forward to the last matchday which determines who out of France or Germany top the NEL league.

TL;DR - Bastard won’t play next matchday and we’ll instead get Isagi commenting on a PXG game. Buffer chapters between games and typical December schedules for Japanese magazines means PXG vs. Bastard probably won’t start until next year.
