I’m under no misgivings about what this team is. We’re not a contender, but we should at least be looking adequate. We don’t.

I want you to really thinking about our personnel for a second. We have:

2 wingers that generally produce around 1 PPG with complimentary play styles.

2 burgeoning Top 6 forwards with complimentary play styles coming up with a burgeoning top line center.

A gritty heart and soul 2C

A good 4th line and some ok depth pieces for a third line, centered by a 21 year old coming off a sophomore slump.

A offensive/2-way 1D backed by two second pairing offensive/2-way D.

A rookie D that already looks at home in large minutes.

Decent goaltending

There is 0 reason this team should not be good for 18th-20th at minimum this year. It’s not a worldbeater roster by any stretch but it’s a lot better than most.

Obviously on a macro level the problem is Jarmo. But I see PV getting a pass from a lot of people, and he doesn’t get one from me. Our offense is pathetically bad. We’re getting out shot about almost every game and giving up high danger chances left and right. Our power play is still a disgrace. I honestly can’t think of a player besides Off Road and Elvis that hasn’t regressed massively so far this year. All of this is on PV, and he needs to be held accountable for it. Good coaches get more out of teams than the sum of their parts. PV is not a good coach.
