PSA - While doing work, you look odd to colleagues because your center of balance is in your hips, not your shoulders.
Post Body

Time and time again I’ve been “corrected” on job sites. Even after 20 years, someone inevitably comes up to me to show me a “better way”. They can’t help themselves.

I realized that part of this is because I look weird to them. Even if I’m doing it by the book and have great technique. And that is because my center of balance is in my hips, and they are used to looking at workers who’s center is in their (EDIT: Sternum) shoulders. We all are, it’s burnt into our psyche. Like watching a left-handed person do something looks off.

So put this in your supply of comebacks, education, or standing your ground on a job site. You will never look like the others because you are built differently - that is a fact.
