Not sure what to do. Got laid off last Friday and my local union isn’t as strong. There is another one but it’s two hours away. I went to the union hall to talk to the coordinator. And they said that both companies are going through money problems.
So I signed the book but the waiting is killing me. They said that they will see if the other local hall has work in this area. The company I worked for probably not going to hire me back and the other company just probably won’t hire me. And those are the only two. I can’t drive 2 hours back and forth or stay in a hotel at the moment. So I’m just playing the waiting game.
How often should I call to check up on the issue? I hate that I have to wait like my career means so much to me. I’ve applied for unemployment and I’ll do that for 3 weeks. But it’s just killing me. I don’t want to get a job while I wait then get a call back.
Like how long would you wait til you got a call that there was work. I can’t stand still I have to be doing something. And staying at home just isn’t a good option for me.
