Well I didn’t think this would happen to me. I was about to be a third year apprentice plumbing apprentice. But the supervisor that’s over us came to our job site which he never did o this one. And was lingering around longer than normal. He finally put me and another guy to the side and said we are being laid off. Just recently got my raise and things were starting to look up.
The reason being is because of money he says. It just hurts and so ironic that after that he gets to go leave in his 70-80,000 truck. I know it’s common and I’m not speaking on that it just hurts. And I’m allowed to feel things and not ignore it. Not sure what I want to do moving forward.
I am in the union and there are only two contractors at my local. The guys have worked with were nice and some were patient. I don’t know if I’ll find that at the next company or if they will hire me. I am a woc that lives in the south.
I will be going up the union hall Monday to see my options. I just feel like this is slowing me down on getting my license. I also do but don’t understand why I was let go out of all the apprentices. The other guy that was let go along with me isn’t a really good apprentice. So I feel like that what they thought about me too. If my situation was better I would join another local hall within the union in a different state. I’ve always wanted to travel anyways but settled.
Never traveled for anything so I didn’t want me family to worry about me all the time. But now I’m wishing I would’ve done it. At least there are more contractor to work for than my local. Ugh 😩 just deeply hurts.
