Should I change my blog + domain name or does it not matter? Also, any general advice on writing a study abroad blog?

Post Body

So I’ve set up a blog and written a few posts about an upcoming exchange trip I’ll be going on in northern UK, under the name “Away in [UK city name]”.

(I’m not sure what the rules are about links and stuff, plus would like a bit of privacy, I can provide more details via pm)

However, I’m starting to feel like that might have not been the best choice of name.

For one, if you google that phrase, all you get are pages and pages of sports results from the city's football club, followed by take away menus and restaurant websites. Even if you add “study abroad blog”, you get pages of travel agency stuff and the university’s official study abroad blog. Basically, it would be pretty much impossible to find it through organic searching

The second issue is that in order to build up some traffic and practice travel writing a bit, I’ve started to write some posts that might be useful to exchange students visiting my home university, HKU. So the blog name isn’t particularly helpful to the people looking for that information.

I’m wondering if creating a new blog with the name “HKU to [UK city name]” and importing all my current posts (like there are only 5 ish at the moment) to it might be better SEO wise?

The issue with the new name is that it’s pretty bland and I’m not sure if having my university name as my blog & domain name is the best of ideas?

In short, should I:

  • keep the original name even though it doesn’t really describe the blog and is buried under a bunch of other websites when you search for it?

  • switch it over to something else(I don’t have than many posts and only one or two views -probably my own- so it’s not a big deal at the moment)?

  • come up with a better blog name? (if so, any ideas?)

  • just ignore it and work on other things since it's not a big deal?

Any help is appreciated, including general stuff about writing a study abroad blog (since I'm new at this and in hindsight should have spent more time thinking about my blog name)

Tl;Dr - I’m iffy about my current blog name “Away in [UK city name]” after writing a few posts on the site due to searchability issues, should I switch, stay or shrug it off?
