Post Body

Hi All,

I'm probably somewhere in between a beginner and an intermediate blogger. Basically, I know enough to really screw thing up, but not enough to fix my screwups. I'm pretty sure that qualifies me for management at many companies.

I'll try to keep this brief, but you know, I'm a blogger. Me and my buddies had a blog back in the 2011-2014 range, it's a blog primarily about UGA football and college football in general. At that time, there were a number of UGA bloggers, but one guy in particular sucked all the energy out of the room with his excellence (that's a compliment), and most of us fell by the wayside as he kinda became the voice of the UGA football blogosphere.

Unfortunately, he passed away recently due to cancer. When I say this was the passing of a legend, if you search "Get The Picture" and "UGA Blog", you can see all the comments on the post that announced his passing. All of his readers were pretty devastated, myself included.

I had been considering reviving my blog for a while, and his passing really pushed me to pick it up and run with it again. Unfortunately, I had originally started this blog on Blogger/Blogspot, and I've tried to pick it up and run with it there, but I feel like I'm working on the Walmart of blog hosting sites.

The blog website is https://otalookingin.blogspot.com/. The template is still the same template that I used literally a decade ago. I've cleaned it up as much as I can, but having some issues, especially with commenting.

Back in the day, I had put Disqus on as the commenting system. Now, I think that is causing my issues. On the mobile view, the comments are appearing as white text and I can't figure out how to change that. Readers don't like the white text. Plus, the Disqus format just doesn't provide a seamless experience. I can't put my finger on what all I don't like, but it just doesn't "feel" right.

You can see we've only done 10 or so recent posts. Should I export it to Wordpress or another hosting site and just start fresh? Should I just work with a more current theme from Blogger? Or are there any other sites you would recommend that are easy to export/import from Blogger?

I'm 46, so this is a little bit of old dogs learning new tricks. But I can handle things as long as it is relatively user friendly.

I don't even know exactly what all I'm looking here for here, but if you can give me some guidance, I'd appreciate any help. I feel like this is potentially a big opportunity, and eventually want to move into video (Tiktok, youtube, reels, etc), but feel like I gotta get the blogging portion of it straight as my base. Thank you in advance for your help.
