It's 2018 and I still can't receive gifts instantly like any other digital distribution service? WTF?

I am trying to understand why in the heck Blizzard has archaic gifting policies? Please explain to me why every other digital distribution platform has figured out gifting, and Blizzard has not? I just want to play, not sit around on my ass and wait for processing!
