At what point to use a cane?

Post Body
Hello! I am not blind, nor really visually impaired. I have one eye that functions at 20/40 and the other I'm forgetting at the moment but I know it can be corrected to 20/150 - but I was just sitting here thinking if I lost my good eye, would I use a cane? Do visually impaired people use canes at vision that's not technically legally blind once corrected? Not trying to be rude! I'm genuinely curious :)
