When they say "not all men," it's because they see themselves in the content and feel discomforted by that. So instead of doing some introspection as to why they got upset, they'll just deflect and project. This isn't just men btw, it's a classic response for anyone who hasn't learned about introspection, emotional regulation and a whole host of other relevant things. I say this all the time, everyone needs therapy.
