Donation box glitch?

Hello everyone, I'm by no means new to Blasphemous, I'm about to beat his holiness but I've just found out about the church donations and just to see what happens, I donated 20k when I only had 4k. To my surprise, the church is now completely upgraded and I have 27k???
I'm not sure if I might have donated 20k together in incriments throughout my playthrough since I just started playing again, but I would be very surprised if I had. Is this normal??
