The gist I'm getting is that many mods are upset at those in charge of reddit, so mods are making subreddits private in protest. So I'm thinking, if reddit is so aggravating, and has been for a while, why bother sending a message of disapproval? It seems to me that it's better to abandon ship entirely, move onto better things.
What I see is wasted time trying to fix a problem that can't be fixed. I see people talk about reddit being in decline. So why spend time complaining when the productive thing to do is start new elsewhere. I'd say forget a blackout, mods would be better off posting that they'll migrate when possible, but aren't returning to reddit.
I've heard comments that Victoria was fired for not wanting to be a sell out. Maybe it's true. It doesn't matter. Actually, I never really bothered with IAMA, and I didn't know who Victoria even was until yesterday. What counts is that it's a -stupid- business decision if so, and it's stupid to fire a key mod of a subreddit that attracts users. The smart thing to do would support Victoria to get a job where hard workers are appreciated. As a whole, it sounds like those in charge of reddit have no business sense or appreciation of what makes a website run well.
The point is, whatever your opinion is on the whole matter, it'd be better for all of us to move on, and abandon reddit. I'd rather migrate to a place on the upswing.
