The VMP, MicroMG 9mm, Peacekeeper, and Daemon seem to wreck my shit faster and more often than anything else in the game, and I'm struggling to compete. The best I've got are the MX9 or the KN57. Nothing else works. I get outgunned the vast majority of gunfights, even when I shoot first. I don't hear it talked about much, but the Peacekeeper especially seems to just destroy me. The VMP obviously, too, but it's been complained about enough already.
How is this healthy for the game? How is this fair to new players (or those of us who left before they introduced Black Market weapons)? The gameplay feels great, especially after coming from the "most recent game," but my God, the weapon balance is simply bonkers... by which I guess I mean non-existent.
Edit: To clear things up, I'm talking only about multiplayer (the traditional way to play a Call of Duty game, and the kind of play style that defined what it means to be a Call of Duty game). I don't know what a stash is, I don't know what Alcatraz is, and I'm not concerned with shooting someone running across an open field two miles away. I'm talking about old-fashioned, face-to-face, twitch-reaction gunplay in small to medium maps, typically in the style of team deathmatch. I can't say anything about the weapon balance in other modes.
Ok? So save up crates and get them, and get better at the game too while you're doing it. I'm not saying that in a disrespectful way, but if you're better you can win those gunfights more because you've put the time in. You can definitely compete against black market weapons with only base weapons. Give the Rampart a try
