I feel like everything the show is doing with his character is supposed to make him a hero…except for 90% of the things his character does. He is given all the makings of a hero like bravery, conviction, almost superhuman fighting skills, but he’s also a totally selfish person who sacrifices his crew, even outright killing some of them, for whatever he personally wants. And at this point in the show, it’s not even 100% clear why he wants it so it’s even harder to swallow.
I guess the heroic trait he’s most lacking is maybe nobility. Whatever it is, it makes him unlikeable and I don’t feel disappointed when he’s defeated or happy when he rises up again. Am I supposed to??
I feel like it is fairly common in longer-lasting shows these days that the scripts have characters acting in ways that don’t fit with how they were portrayed earlier. I don’t mean because they changed through what they went through, or that there was a side to them that we weren’t shown before. Leaves me feeling like he/she just wouldn’t do x, that they’re now doing. Anybody else?
Just finished the show this week, and was thinking about this even before seeing this post. Flint is one of these for me. You? I Don’t want to get into specifics here, as OP is only in season 2, but curious about what you all think…
