What am i doing wrong?

Trying to start my curl journey, im not sure what it is im doing wrong. I can see that my hair wants to curl but i feel like im not doing something right. Can someone help me? I shampoo’d and deep conditioned and used leave in conditioner afterwards, sectioned each side (into 4 quarters) and brushed it down, but i’m not seeing results much at all.
