Why Microsoft's acceptence of Bitcoin is a bigger deal than you think
Post Body

Many of you have probably heard by now that Microsoft began accepting Bitcoin. Most Bitcoiners will probably look at this and think, "Yeah, it's another giant company accepting Bitcoin, awesome!" But this specific acceptance of Bitcoin is bigger than you realize.

Microsoft appeals to a younger audience than almost all of the big companies that currently accept Bitcoin. Younger kids and teenagers play Xbox, and buy Xbox Live. When kids see Bitcoin's big, bright, B logo, they'll get interested and probably use the Internet to look it up. They'll look at Bitcoin as money of the future, something that is shaping history. They may not understand its significance in terms of the mathematical beauty behind it, or the power it provides to people, but they'll think of it as a magical new thing that they can be a part of.

Having younger kids use Bitcoin is huge. Parents could research it themselves because they want to protect their kids, and perhaps parents will become interested by it. They could pay their kids' allowance or give them gifts in Bitcoin. This would increase Bitcoin's adoption immensely. And if Bitcoin catches on in a school, it will spread like wildfire. Various things in the past are known for being immensely popular in schools, including GoGo's (Crazy Bones), Pokémon, and Webkinz. If Bitcoin becomes popular in schools around America (and even the world!) it would increase Bitcoin's adoption and people's knowledge of Bitcoin in a significant way.
