Just playing devil's advocate here, but I think one issue that may turn people away is buying into BTC with fiat money upon trying to invest / become involved.
Why would someone want to turn to a means of payment where you have to pay --usually around -- 1% to convert your fiat to BTC or the other way around. If I'm trying to send money across the globe, different story. But if I just want to use BTC, just because.. I wouldn't want to take a 1% hit on my money when I already have a working fiat currency..
I am all about BTC and do believe the 1% hit upon conversion is well worth ... most of the time;)
