How do the samples work at the Birmingham Beer Fest?

I'm going next weekend and was wondering how the samples work. Their website says "State law and ABC regulations do now allow “unlimited free samples.” With the price of your ticket, you will receive a sampling card."
Has anyone ever been and can explain the sampling card? I went to them in Tennessee and it was unlimited and typically a drunken (awesome) mess.
