Birmingham used to have at least one, usually several, places where you could go see local musicians play hard af most nights surrounded by a local scene of regulars who were dialed in to the scene. People would go see bands/ music and convene at some point in the night at Mary's and/or Stillwater to recount their night while having a time at the home base.
We could do that again.
Currently, Dave's would be a great local hang for the music scene or maybe Iron city or something like that... rumor has it that Dave's thinks they are a regional venue or a ticketed site spot... ridiculous.
Of all the places in town, I feel like there is an untapped market to cultivate a regular music spot that many displaced regulars would go
Someone needs to step up to that role.
Edit: Marty's (when Marty was there, offering a home base for good, local musicians to basically have a residency)
