Right outside of my work this morning, on a very busy sidewalk I found a sparrow fledgling. The mom was flying around and while I couldn't tell if he was injured, he was flailing around like a fledgling typically would. I was keeping an eye on it and while I was gone checking someone in, by the time I had went back outside, it had passed. I had moved it, very gently, from the road one time back to the sidewalk and then closer to the tree before I went back in the second time. When I came back out a third time, it had passed. All of this happened in less than 30 minutes. I have a huge animal sensitivity and I'm sitting here crying because I somehow feel that it was my fault, or I could have prevented it. I'm assuming it had an injury from falling from its nest on to concrete but I still can't help but feel somewhat responsible.
