My ex has been in denial of his diagnosis from the start. Itā€™s been 2-3 months since discard following his first manic episode (heā€™s 29M). He called me to apologize saying he does not have bipolar he has DID and he has ā€œlittles,ā€ alter egos that come out. Says he has amnesia and is trying to piece together what happens the past few months. There were some plot holes to his story like the girl he fucked randomly shows up at his house (he lives in an apartment with security so thereā€™s no way she just showed up at the door unless he gave an address). none of his family members or friends have seen proof of this. Since the beginning heā€™s been in denial of the specific bipolar disorder. Could DID really be the reason? Thereā€™s been no signs in the 2.5 years Iā€™ve known him. However, when the mania started he did start talking to himself and said ā€œitā€™s okay little guy, you can come out now,ā€ and it was the ā€œchild versionā€ of him. He has since adopted an angry persona. Honestly his behavior is very similar to what Iā€™m reading on this Reddit and the hospital diagnosed him with bipolar 1 last I read (a lot could have changed). His friend thinks maybe heā€™s running out of support systems and is coming back to me?? What do you all make of this. Im def not getting back together with him but he definitely tricked me into thinking heā€™s getting help because it sounded like a sincere apology and reported he is taking accountability for his actions ???
