Officially diagnosed today, starting Abilify
Post Body

My doctor officially diagnosed me as bipolar (she didn’t say whether 1 or 2) and is starting me on Abilify today. I’m starting at a low dose (i forget whether she said 1 mg or 5mg, somewhere in that range) and staying on 5mg of Lexapro. I also take 20mg Adderall XR almost daily for school. How have your experiences with Abilify been? I don’t really know what to expect. Does anyone else take Abilify with an SSRI? Feeling very hopeful for the first time in a long time. It feels great to know that I finally have a diagnosis and can start proper treatment.

edit: thank you everyone for your support and responses! i really appreciate this community. ive been on abilify for about a week (i think?) and so far, i’m starting to feel more stable. i was just manic or hypomanic (but i sorta feel like manic) for 2 months so this is great! the restlessness really sucks though....

I don't take it with an SSRI but I do take it with Lamictal and it has been a godsend for me. Abilify was the first bipolar medication I tried and I am still on it. I still get depressive dips sometimes, but I think that's actually because my Lamictal is too low. I hope it works well for you!

I pay around $20 for a 90 day supply with tricare; I don't know how it is with other plans.
