I have been an absolute mess this past year. I was diagnosed in January after a manic episode that started in August, and given lamictal for mood and trazodone for sleep. I switched psychiatrists in July and he helped me try a variety of medications hoping something would fix me! But nothing seemed to help. I would be relatively okay one week but the next I would be hypomanic again and no one could understand why! Trazodone was the only constant. The only reason I started to suspect it might be the culprit is my mother made a comment about me seeming to be extremely sensitive to medications, and I was like wait a minute trazodone is technically an antidepressant...what if??? So I stopped taking it. Four days later I was fucking normal. My husband and I couldn’t believe it. I hadn’t been normal since July of 2017! It’s been two weeks now and I just got back from a psychiatrist appointment. He said he never would have guessed it would have had that effect since it was such a low dose (100mg) but that it obviously was the culprit because I was the most stable he’s ever seen me. I searched this sub a little obsessively and couldn’t find anything cautioning against trazodone, so I thought I’d post this in case it might help anyone! Good luck out there guys it’s a wild ride!!!!
