I’m from EU, and got a post doc at USA research lab in a NIH grant, not related to academia. I don’t think I want to be a professor. Although I enjoy to do research, the lonely work environment does not work for me.
I am a biomedical engineer. What do you think is the best path forward for me? I’m thinking either industry that focuses on research, or look for research institutions. Will the transition from post doc be very difficult? And how long in my post doc should I start looking?
I’m doing the post doc because it allows me to experience working in a good research institute in USA (where I never worked, and I think there are more opportunities than in my EU country) and I will try to evolve my AI skills (so I can move forward as ML or data scientist).
Thank you very much.
