Making the difficult decision to quit my antidepressant for good, what do I do/take to avoid the relapse?

Post Body

I believe my antidepressant helped me when it needed but now it's time for me to go off. Yes I know about relapse and chemical imbalances but I simply do not trust it enough to be on it for life. FOR LIFE...the people that so casually tell me to be on antidepressant (prozac) for life just mind boggles me.

Things I'll do:

  1. I'm going to exercise regularly to keep my c-reactive protein down as inflammation causes depression, insomnia, neuroticism
  2. Eat gaba rich foods, avoid processed foods
  3. Have all my essential vitamins and minerals in check

What else can I do? I'm very afraid of a relapse, very afraid of returning to the horrible point in my life which caused me to need antidepressants in the first place.

I asked my doctor, it's been 5 months since I quit, I'm currently going through rebound symptoms right now. The rebound symptoms are what's turning me off prozac for good. I will wait maybe a couple more weeks if I see no more improvement I will consider going back on.
