St John's Wort as an SNDRI?

Post Body

Looking for some advice info on using SJW as an SNDRI.

Learning that it inhibits reuptake of all major transmitters blew my mind and even more so when it ISN'T affected by my CYP1B1/2D6 gene mutations and actually helps make them work better!

This is a bit of a game changers for me, as I have MTHFR, slow COMT, MAOA and MAOB.

Now to really screw me up, God blessed me with broken TPH/TH and DBH genes too!

Basically I don't produce "enough" neurotransmitters, but am lucky to have a slow metabolising with regards to NT breakdown.

I liken this to running on an almost empty tank of gas and being stuck in 1st or 2nd gear!

Now I can supplement my way past a lot of this, by going direct to the brain with 5htp and L-Dopa - mood fixed, headaches gone, but still lacking that bit of pzazz!

There is no apparent fix for this DBH gene issue, until I found that St John's Wort also inhibits reuptake of norepinephrine and thos could really aid my dopa>norep issue!

Questions!

Has anyone been down this path already and how did you get on?

Is it better to still take precursors (despite poor NT synthesis) as there are other things in play such as the Kynurenic pathway which is critical in dealing with oxidative stress and inflammation!

Or a mix of both?

Appreciate this is quite a unique problem and I'm bot sure how many of you got given broken metabolism AND synthesis of genes, but it sucks for sure! 😥

This is my last hope as believe I've exhausted all other options.
