Hi all,
I'm relatively new to biohacking so please pardon me if I'm asking for something well known. I'm someone who's struggled with their sleep for the majority of their adult life (41M).
To help improve things I've made some major changes to my sleep hygiene (coolness, eye mask, no caffeine after 2pm, no fluids 2h before bed time etc.) and boy has it made a difference. That being said, I'm almost there, but not quite, as I do still have sporadic long awakenings and do still have nights where I have to stay in bed far longer than I'd like to in order reach my 7hrs.
After reading a few anecdotal reports, I decided to grab a tub of Magnesium pills to see what that would do. I started a week or so ago, and holy shit my dreams are now WILD. Sometimes they are so vivid in fact that they wake me up a few times at night.
I have a feeling that the magnesium is definitely doing something for my REM sleep, but also think that because it jolts me awake a few times that it comes at the cost of deep sleep. Does anybody else here have similar experiences, and maybe any ideas on how this can be mitigated a bit? Does it go away on its own after a while? Or this a normal / good thing?
