MSG show security experience?

Hi all, headed to a show at MSG - I know I can expect my bag to be searched, but my SO is curious about his knife (a spring-assisted folder). What do they do by the way of metal detectors, and if it's noticed, it will just be confiscated, yes? He's worried about us being tossed. TIA!
