As a college student, what would be the ideal time to apply?

What is the best time to apply in hopes of actually playing the game? 1.Take a fall semester off 2. As soon as you graduate 3. 2-3 years after you started your career? IMO there's pros and cons to each time but which is the most ideal for a student? In my situation, what would be an ideal time as a nursing student?
