As I laid in my bed last week, sicker than I have ever been and feeling sorry for myself, I had an epiphany.
There's absolutely nothing waiting for us at the top of the corporate ladder.
We've all been fed this lie that climbing higher and higher will bring us happiness and success. We chase after promotions, titles, money, corner offices, and validation from others, thinking each rung up gets us closer to our dreams.
But let me tell you - it's all BS.
Because more often than not, the higher we climb, the emptier we feel.
Why? Because the corporate ladder is built on a flimsy, superficial foundation of status, money, and power. It doesn't scratch the surface of what we truly need. We sacrifice our health, relationships, values, and our very sense of purpose in pursuit of these elusive markers of success, only to realise that they leave us wanting more.
At the top of the ladder, we may find ourselves surrounded by loneliness, stress, and existential.
As an aspiring big 4 Partner, I have seen the last year full of divorces, anger taken out on teams and most importantly loss of respect.
It is a dirty Big 4 and honestly, not worth it. I have seen so many people resign and now, my friends, it is my turn. #Quiet Quitting and will start doing interviews.
